The Nigerian Army has not minced words in its commitment to improve the military/civil relationship between the Army and the civilians, to that end, it has continued to improve the living standard of the civilian residents and the officers and men of the Nigerian Army in the Onitsha Military Cantonment.
Each Commander of the 302 Artillery Regiment and the Commanding Officer of its 14 Field Engineer Regiment counterpart comes in and leaves with one remarkable project or the other as they exit from the cantonment for another place of posting.

While the immediate past Commander of 302 Artillery Regiment Col. Idiongesit Akpan was on seat he embarked on construction of Water bore holes projects with the assistance of the Army Headquarters and the 82 Division Nigerian Army Enugu.
Akpan also led the officers and soldiers in the cantonment to clear the blocked drainage and over five years old refuse dump in front of Electrical International Market Obosi by Onitsha Owerri expressway.
Col. Akpan with the assistance of the former Commanding Officer 14 Field Engineer Regiment Lt. One projects the at gladdened the heart of residents of Onitsha particularly those living in the Government Reserved Reserved Area, GRA by Officers and Soldiers of 14 Field Engineers Regiment Onitsha led by Lt. Col. Momoh was the clearing of the over ten years Park Lane road drainage which the successive administrations of   Onitsha North Local Government could not be able to clear.
